writing

Ever since me and my best friend Austen wrote an original musical for National History Day in high school, I’ve been in love with new work. In the years since then, I’ve worked with Improv Playhouse, the American Music Theatre Project, and the Agnes Nixon Playwriting Festival as a playwright, lyricist, and dramaturg. While at school, I received a Summer Undergraduate Research Grant to complete my play The Protocol of Grace and Reconciliation through Separation, a bluegrass-infused love letter to queer Methodists. My poetry and research have been featured in the Helicon Literary & Arts Magazine and the Queer Reader. And this year, I’m so proud to have received a commission to write a TYA adaptation of The Little Prince for Improv Playhouse. This whimsically interactive little gem of a show is currently touring in schools and libraries in the Chicagoland area – see if you can spot it flying by!
