actor / writer / educator
Hey y’all, I’m Ruby! I’m a Chicago-based theatre artist who loves telling stories full of music, magic, and movement. I graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Theatre and Playwriting in 2022. Since then, I’ve been over the moon to contribute to exciting new theatrical work as an actor, deviser, and writer! Favorite performance projects include The Best Damn Thing at The Understudy Coffee & Books (a play in a bookstore – my dream) and Women Who Discovered How to Measure the Universe at Raven Theatre. As a playwright, I recently wrote a mini musical with composer Kevin Park called Max Loves the Moon for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, and my adaptation of The Little Prince will be returning to Chicagoland schools soon for Improv Playhouse’s fall tour.
When I’m not looking up pop punk karaoke videos on YouTube or making yet another new play pitch in Canva, you’ll find me teaching drama class at Chicago Children’s Theatre for kids aged 4-14. And of course, I’m always chasing new creative pursuits just for funsies, whether it’s zine making or gardening or Dutch oven bread baking! I’m still working on getting that perfect crumb…
