actor / writer / educator

Hey y’all, I’m Ruby! I’m a Chicago-based theatre artist who loves telling stories full of music, magic, and movement. I graduated from Northwestern University in 2022 with a BA in theatre and concentrations in playwriting, music theatre, and gender & sexuality studies. In the year and change since then, I’ve been so lucky to contribute to exciting new theatrical work as an actor, deviser, and writer. Favorite performance projects include understudying The Best Damn Thing at The Understudy Coffee & Books (yes, a play in a bookstore – my dream!) and devising for Women Who Discovered How to Measure the Universe with Measure the Universe productions. And if you’re lucky, you can still catch my TYA adaptation of The Little Prince on tour with Improv Playhouse at a school or library near you!

When I’m not running around onstage in combat boots or making yet another new play pitch in Canva, you might find me at the Evanston Public Library developing arts programs for teens in my position as a library assistant. And of course, I’m always chasing new creative pursuits just for funsies, whether it’s zine making or gardening or Dutch oven bread baking! I’m still working on getting that perfect crumb…
